Mint commemorates the World War I Centennial in 2018. The War is notorious for the introduction of trench warfare, represented by the images of barbed wire in the coin’s designs. The 38.1 mm diameter uncirculated finish coin is struck from 0.7736 Troy oz. 900 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint; no more than 350,000 will be minted. The powerful image of an armed, helmeted soldier near a barbed wire fence adorns the obverse. The design by LeRoy Transfield was sculpted by Don Everhart, and includes the inscriptions “LIBERTY, ” “IN GOD WE TRUST” “1918” and 2018.
