1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar-NGC Old Fattie Holder MS 64- Glowing/Proof-Like ish type Dollar with PQ Toning on Obverse. This coin has the feel that certain older ANA/ANACS holders with blue lettering have in optimal cases! Super original and gorgeous PQ Obverse with a complimentary Reverse that has some nice original rim toning. This week I had the opportunity to cherry pick 4-5 coins out of a nicer collection at my LCS before anyone else saw them. The collection was mostly coins that had very specific VAMs and there were a lot of coins that were the original basis for varieties – sprinkled in were a few that didn’t have the VAMs but the collecter clearly had a keen eye – This one appears to have a lamination peel on the cheek area. This coin has been so sharply struck that the breastfeathers area is deeper than almost any other example I’ve ever seen before!
