A portrait of Lady Liberty facing left adorns the obverse, wearing a crown inscribed “LIBERTY” and a Phrygian cap, which is a symbol representing the pursuit of liberty dating back to the Roman Republic era. “E PLURIBUS UNUM, ” “1888” and thirteen stars frame Liberty’s image. The reverse of the Morgan Dollar illustrates an eagle with an olive branch and three arrows in its grasp. A laurel wreath curves below the eagle, with the Mint mark for New Orleans Mint “O, ” centered beneath it.
