The coin was minted annually from 1878 until 1904, then for a final year in 1921, featuring imagery created by English born coin designer George T. Struck from 0.7734 Troy oz. 900 fine silver, this Morgan Dollar is one of the 19,963,000 produced at the Philadelphia Mint in 1886. Classic Depiction of Lady Liberty. Lady Liberty is illustrated facing left on the obverse, wearing a headband inscribed with “LIBERTY” and a Phrygian cap adorned with sprigs of wheat, cotton and oak. The portrait is surrounded by thirteen six-pointed stars as a representation of the original colonies, “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the date of issue 1886.
